Perhaps a Hat-Pin...or ? Large Carnelian? Stone, Fancy Keeper

    If it is a hat-pin it's short, I think; 4 1/8" overall, ~2 1/4" carbon steel pin length, stone diameter ~9/16".
    The tiny brass sleeve serves to keep the (probably) brass ferrule in place. It wasn't Mom's, an' I have no memory of where or when I acquired it. If there's anything noteworthy about it, please do tell! Thanks for lookin'!

    I think more likely a Jabot pin. Very nice.

    1930-1940 hat pins were short, not intended to secure the hat on the hairdo, but used as ornaments on a lady's beret:)
