Any ideas on the origin of this item?

    Hi, this silver cup is 4” high x 5” wide. Purchased at a flea market in New York. Not sure what the markings mean. Please see photos. Thanks!

    It seems obviously plated, by the wear-through on the inner surfaces.

    So, did they do that??? Plate on the inside & Sterling on the outside? or ?????

    the word Sterling in the name of the maker has nothing to do
    with the fact that they made silver plated items.

    What do you mean by "plate on the inside and sterling on the outside" ?

    Definitely "or". There is wear on both the inside and the outside, with base metal showing in and out, so plated all over.

    That little item (or one of its brethren) once held a scoop of ice cream at Philadelphia's Bellevue Stratford Hotel. (Came with a liner and a 5-inch silver spoon sacred to the consumption of ice cream at the BSH. And, as I recall, the scoop itself was pointed rather than rounded. :))
