It was raining on Sunday so car boot was cancelled. I decided to go to the market instead as I hadn't been for a while. The house clearance man was there with tables full of broc a brac. I found some pretty good stuff and in amongst it was this card board box. I peeked inside and there was a flash of cobalt blue, pink flowers and gold. I pulled it out and this was staring me in the face.

Sorry please excuse my ambiguity. Thats how I found it at the market. All the stuff gets thrown about in boxes and they damage loads. If they just slowed down, did a bit of homework and listed stuff on ebay they would make so much more. Bit he just seems hell bent on churning stuff out at a quid and is in such a rush to do it.

Nothing worse! I've seen same at the thrifts--perfectly fine item chipped, or top broken off getting rattled around. Shame. What a pretty cup that was.

He may as well have tossed a $100 in the kiln.Rose did beautiful flamboyant stuff-be fun to find a vest like that to wear in me goofier moods (with my old lodge fez). Dr. Who on Victorian steroids.
What name would this type/pattern of fabric be called ?

What did the poor cup do to deserve THAT?! I'm forever finding chipped and broken bits in thrifts that didn't get donated that way. Between the rolling bins and the wire shelves..grrrrr. And then you get a bloke like this who seriously can't be bothered.

    GRRRRR.

We just found a Bauer Jade Green Ringware batter bowl & an enameled Bohemia or Murano Decanter w/2 cups-all cheap & ALL CHIPPED ! The battleground of modern thrifting.
My brilliant lady caught the chips-me,i can get punchy in those joints.

Sometimes my fingers find them before my eyes do, or I manage to pick the piece up with my hand over the chip. Cracked glass I can usually spot quickly, and sharp glass chips will literally bite and are easier to find.

Evely-I think you (?) mentioned you can also feel jewelry marks without yanking out an obvious loupe.

Ye Old fingernail often finds them. Some cwappy gold pieces have really half-hearted marks on the posts that are easier to spot with the eye. I usually just go with my nose on those and worry about the marks later.

Many a time I've been in one of my local thrifts and heard the sound of breaking glass/china/etc coming from the worker's area... :jawdrop::inpain:

I was tempted to buy it but I think it would have just made me cry every time I looked at it.
