    I found this little beauty at a thrift store and have been unable to find a maker or pattern for it. The only mark on it are numbers that have been etched it the bottom They appear to be random. I would like to pick up other pieces for this set. So pretty. As always thanks for the help

    Oooo thats gorgeous ! It may have been marked and over the years it got polished off.It does happen. Im no Mr. Nate,but Id bet my bottom dollar thats sterling. Possibly English. Those numbers are probably someones inventory numbers.

    ...either polished away or hiding somewhere in the design.

    You may want to get your loupe/magnifying glass then go sit under a bright light or next to a sunny window & examine every square inch of the teapot.

    If I have learned nothing else from the silver gurus here on the forum I know some countries just love to put marks in strange places.

    Also, I agree wholeheartedly with Johnny's opinion about this piece. It is gorgeous!!

    Maybe @MrNate or @DragonflyWink will pop in for a look-see. :happy::happy:

    Well that would be a nice surprise for sure! I think I see a little copper showing through though in the pic that I did not see when eyeballing it. I have looked on Worthpoint, eBay and other sites and cannot find anything close to it. I tried image searches too. Thanks for responding. A photo of the whole pot

    The melon on top and the elaborate design has me wondering it wasn't made in or for the Asian market. If the silver is thick and over copper... sheffield plate?

    A melon or pumpkin knob was also used a lot in Europe.

    That carved wooden handle too, but it does make me wonder.

    Lovely piece, I do personally think it is plated based on how the bottom looks (speaking from experience here buying many similar items that looked so good to me). It is a beautiful pattern, I thought maybe the numbers on the bottom could be the former owners social security number (I think it was something people did so if something got stolen they could prove it belonged to them??) but there appear to be too many numbers for that to be it. Perhaps a phone number?

    I of course believe you Oracle Of Silver :) But that seems like an awful lot of work for a plated item. Am I wrong for assuming its hand done?

    Gorgeous, it reminds me a little of the Melon pattern by Oneida silver. But it isn't that pattern, just similar in shape and the finial.

    BTW, if you keep going back to that Thrift for a few days or weeks, you might find other pieces. They frequently separate these types of items when a set is donated. Not purposely, just some intake problems. The tray will be hardest to find because people want just trays but not all the other parts that are hard to polish.

    I’m somewhat frequently amazed at the intricate detail and quality that went into/onto earlier American Silverplate. Like 1860’s-1870’s era ish. Particularly early Reed & Barton and some Gorham. Far exceeds 90% of sterling if you’re looking for lots of detail, figural elements, and unique motifs. Some French Silverplate too. Not speculating on this piece in question just bouncing off of your comment.

    My immediate thought on first broad view of the pot was potentially Asian as well. Closer look I’d bet not but I saw that too.

    I cannot find any seams on it. And it does look from the inside like it was hand done
