I’m a bit pleased. It came from the nice chap who sells stuff at scrap or just below. My Jean Muir necklace was from him. This was sitting in his costume pile. I did pay a whole ten quid mind you.
OB-Your scrapper's a treasure. The more i see Neiger the more i like it-wonderful old Hollywood style exotica. A sad ending for the brothers, but they inspired many during their lifetimes & they left an amazing legacy.
I always feel outside, looking in when all you joolies get to chatting. Not that that is bad. I don't have any knowledge of the old stuff like you all have, but i for sure love to look in on it and see the finds.
OBB, you are the Queen of finding marvellous stuff for nothing, I just admire your skills! Not jealous at all because I am way out of your league. To be honest, I saw a beautiful piece apparently not precious metal, and had to read the discussion till Kyra's post in order to realise that it was actually a big trade mark piece - silly me! Thank you for educating me!
...& couldn't get it out of the pouch fast enough!! If I had seen it I would have bought it in a nanosecond but would have had to bring it here to find out what I bought.
I probably wouldn't have recognized it as Neiger; we don't get a lot of it here. Would have know it wasn't tat though.
Wow, nice find! yours is nicer, but here is a similar one with the clouds https://www.ebay.com/itm/2957873609...gYQCjiLTm6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
These Ladies (& some Gents) have a lifetime of knowledge in them.I bet some of the same young hippie joolies I met 40-50 years ago are still full-speed ahead !
Blimey, that's a nice price. I had to VERY carefully straighten the pin and clasp with much trepidation. My scrappy man is a nice chap, and his wife is a sweetheart. I think I get mate's rates to some extent, because he knows he can pick my brain. He also knows I won't argue price if I think it's fair.
It's a priceless thing to have a mutual respect between oneself & a good picker.A few of my old sources and i will do an Ebay search & he'll go-'What's a good margin for you & a fair price for me ?' -and we'll usually strike a deal. Of course you can't give someone with a brain pennies, but it's a good way to replenish inventory.Great accidents still happen, but w/today's hoards of amateur hobby pickers the glory moments are gettin' slimmer.
