I bought myself a present. Since it came from the Discovery Shop, all I know is that the diamonds and gold are real. (They were checked at the reputable jewelry store down the street.) It was not a great deal, as the Discovery Shop was given a price point by the jewelry store. I did get a 25% discount though.

Later I found the 585 mark on the lobster clasp. I looked and looked, and I couldn't find another mark of any kind. Perhaps, you all can tell me where to look. I know they can be hidden in tiny places, but I used my loupe at home and couldn't find anything else.

Since it is marked with 585, my research says it is European. Since that is a mighty big place, does the design and manufacture tell anything about it? I know it has to be after the 50s because of the lobster clasp. The diamonds don't fit well into the setting - there are gaps, if that is of any help. The diamond piece is 2 inches across. The chain is 7 inches on each side. Total length 16 inches. It weighs 10 grams in total.

I am just looking for information, as it enhances my appreciation of the pieces I wear. I don't even know what to call it - a necklace? pendant? chocker or something else. Any thoughts, comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Yes, that is a cat's paw. She thought I needed help with the chain.

Too much bright light and reflection to see any detail about the stone setting. They appear to have standard bead setting.

Sorry. I was trying to get the diamonds to sparkle. Let me take some other shots.

That is a lovely present, Kiko.
Most European countries have assay marks, and since the 70s most are also members of the Hallmarking Convention. The Convention hallmark is a set of scales with the millessimal fineness in between the scales.

Germany doesn't have actual assay marks and it hasn't joined the Convention. They mark in millessimal fineness, and I think this sweetie could be German. It is also something they would make.
Could be by one of the Pforzheim makers.

(Germany has the imperial crown mark for gold, but that is rarely used. It is marked by the manufacturers, so not a hallmark/assay mark.)
They're so helpful. This morning Dewi presented me with a small package of screws.:cat: She was sure I needed them for breakfast.:hilarious:

Very pretty. At first I thought it was horseshoes but I don't think that is it.

Perfect. All my questions answered and some ideas on what to look for in the future. You are truly wonderful!:kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss:

Is Dewi implying that you have a screw loose? She sounds so delightful.

I agree, it has that look but they are closed at the ends. Not circles either. While many people wouldn't see its beauty, I'm happy you see what I see.
