I was gifted this broken necklace by someone who knows I love to repurpose . The yellow beads (and large brown one) are light, are they amber? I wasn’t sure with the interior waving. The blue I assume is glass, but the gray stones I am not sure of. Any help appreciated!

…also these earrings, which are modern and heavy (too heavy to wear as earrings imo), some kind of purple stone that has these little crystal-y bits..

The wavy bead is definitely faux*, so others are suspect.

Grey stones kind of look like petrified wood, but may be a type of jasper.

Purple stone that is not amethyst, sugilite, maybe?

*Or processed, or copal. Hope one of our experts will have a clearer idea. Just not amber in its natural state.

The yellow ones are lucite, acrylic, or scrub-bucket plastic. The blue ones are glass, and the gray/brown ones I have no idea. The earrings? I'm willing to roll with sugilite.

Thanks all. I was just pleasantly surprised she thought to give them to me, will see what I can come up with!

Not that I am any authority just in my humble opinion the yellow beads are plastic, probably lucite or alike. The big brown one looks to me as copal or can be also plastic. These can be tested with UV flash to determine if they are amber.

    Ditto.
The big one is probably Moroccan.

Any, actually my opinion was based on your lesson when I posted a necklace with very similar beads for discussion, and you explained in detail what is what. Thanks for educating me, again!

It’s a long time later, but I finally repurposed the yellow lucite beads, paired with some yellow opal barrel beads and gold spacers for a necklace-bracelet set. I feel like it gives a Roman mosaic vibe.

I’m not a seller, just like to repurpose/create things for myself. I’m still ruminating over the remaining pieces. ;)

Actually I also already used the blue beads, I forgot they were from this batch. I found a sweet little necklace in a charity shop — child sized, so truly little! Had to do something if I wanted to wear it at all. (Chain/band is magnetic but not the centerpiece, that’s all I know about it. Looks kinda Rajasthani.)

I was going to say Bollywood, but close enough. Now it really looks Bollywood.

Pretty results, Kate, well done.:) I especially like the blue beads with the India/Boho centerpiece, very striking.
