And saving the best for last.
I finally found a decent sapphire in a pawn shop. 14k, great color and cut. Weighs 4g.
Has one tiny inclusion and a bit of zoning which confirms sapphire for me.
I bargained down to scrap price.

If you had said you paid the $165 for just this one I would have still said it was a good deal! What a sparkler! I do find gold on the cheap sometimes but it is mostly modern boring stuff with no particular character to it. Did find a nice coral ring a couple months ago at a thrift but it was $85

That sapphire ring was a score. Montana? The double ring box deserves rings.

Yes, natural sapphires flouresce under a black light, but usually orangey red to red.
Spinels also fluoresce, but the effect is usually not as strong as with sapphires.

Beautiful sapphire, perfect color. I love the pearl stud earrings. The color of that vase is sublime.

Olive Commons developed Platinum Palm Ware, a technique where platinum was fused onto china in original Palm, Moss, Sky and Sea motifs. Platinum Palm Ware was awarded a medal at the 1939 New York World's Fair.
