Patrick, it would be helpful if you posted a photograph of the cup itself. Also tell us where you found it and what you were told about it. What are the measurements? And what do you think it's made of?

Not to worry, Patrick. All new members have difficulty loading photographs at first. Someone will be along shortly with instructions for doing so.

It does look like a pewter cup though I'd probably be calling it a julep cup, I don't know it's exact use.

Pewter can be old or can be made to look old. If you can get more detail with an in focus view of the mark, perhaps in different light situations it may be possible to see more details.

I have assorted pewter mark books that sometimes help. It looks like you have a figure that may be an angel. Many angel marks have angels in long dresses but there are many, many variations. If there are any letters it may be helpful.

This is just an example of what yours might be like if you can pull out any detail such as the letters etc. I'm not saying that this is yours.

This appears to be an "angel mark" normally found in Europe,

This was a goodwill find. I usually walk passed stuff like this but out of all the little trinkets and things on the shelf, this item really caught my eye. Looked like it had real age to it. Been trying to figure anything out about it ever since. 3-4 years later
