This is about 2 inches tall, weighs about 9 grams, marked 14k, stones test garnet. The 14K may be stamped on top of another mark which I can't make out at all. I've searched using filigree, dangle, even tried cannetille, which I don't really think this is. Have seen some similar-ish, but not able to date this piece from what I've been able to to find. What time period do you think it is? I would call it a 14K garnet filigree fan dangle brooch. Any other thoughts for description? As always, many thanks for any help.

    That's an eyecatcher!
A mix of styles, assembled harmoniously. Could have been made in India, possibly for sale in the Middle East, but no certainty.
Looks like 700, or even 100. Could be a manufacturer's code.
It is ajour or openwork, maybe that helps.
A 14k garnet ajour fan shaped brooch with teardrop dangle.
There could be some filigree in the dangle, but that is probably ajour too. Because the dangle looks like there could be filigree, you could throw in that term too.;)

Thanks AJ! Great info, very helpful, as usual. Ajour is a new term for me, I will look into it.

Please show me the color of the center garnet. If it can be lifted from the table just a bit, the light could shine through to show the dark red. There are different varieties of garnets depending upon their source.

I love garnets - they are my birthstone. :)

Saree brooch for search terms perhaps?

Now there's an idea. Yes it could be a saree brooch.
Saree brooches come in many shapes and styles, but they often have a dangle. I can see this on a stylish saree.

Thanks for the comments and ideas for search words. Didn't see much like my piece using saree. A few things with ajour, and openwork seems more commonly used.
I was not able to get a better photo of the color of the stones. I will try in the sun later if I can.
