Featured Zuni Bear fetish help with signature?

Hi all,
I bought this little 4 1/2" long bear with the understanding it wasn't signed.
When I got it home, I saw what looks like a signature or letters and or numbers on the bottom. Am I just seeing things or is this a Signature?

Looks like it could be a siggy. Maybe rub some cinnamon or cocoa powder in it, so you get more contrast?

The stone could be selenite, with those translucent looking parts.

Seems the writing is not deep enough for the cinnamon. Maybe a little better?

You could try paper/pencil rubbing, maybe?

 

It's distinctive in the use of beads for the heartline & feathers pointing fore & aft in the bundle.

 

Sorry, but it looks to me like saw marks that did not get polished out.

 

Ellen Quandelacy was the matriarch of a large family; one of her sons originated a bear with spirit-line design...that's all I remember, and would have to look up his name; but his design has been very widely imitated, and I'd guess this piece is not his, but one of the copiers.
