I have this pivoting desk lamp. I would like to request the decades that this was made
for insurance claim purposes because my hot water tank burst and they
got thrown out in mitigation. However, my insurance wants me to date
everything that got lost in water damage. Mitigation took this picture.
Thank you for assistance in this request. Regards, Rob

Since this is brass and brass was common material used in the 1950s. I am going to guess 1950s because it is between 1940s and 1960s. I do not mind changing my
answer if you know better than my guess. Thank you for all of your help in this request. I will add my guess on decade to the insurance company spreadsheet

Not to argue, but the lamp shown has a relatively modern cord with a sticker UL label around the cord. That wasn't around in the 1960's. I think the lamp is more 1990's ish hotel wall lamp.

ok, thank you for your detective work and what this lamp was used for. I will change it in the water damage list for the insurance company. Rob

You sure have been faced with a challenge. If they aren't asking for comparables consider yourself lucky.

When I had some water damage a number of years back there was one box of damaged books that went undiscovered at first. I had to try to come up with values for used books I knew nothing about to submit which proved more of a challenge than expected. It was well worth it as it turned out.

I hope mitigation company did not take pictures of the whole box and threw them out. I hope you were able to go through the box and was able to find something out about each book. Yes, it is very challenging the guy that took the mitigation pictures I heard it was like one of his first jobs and I think he rushed and got a mixture of good and bad pictures. Some I had to search on just the packaging to find out what it said blurred on a picture that the mitigation guy took. I submitted the dates but the insurance rep has asked me to redo it in years and months format rather than dates format in their spreadsheet. I do have some constructive criticism for the way they are doing this. Hope I get to fill out feedback probably will not do any good probably more waste of my time to do. Rob
