A couple of questions about this antique or vintage framed piece. Measures 11 x 18 inches. Would this be Chinese? Also curious about the material it is painting on, almost looks like some kind of fabric? See the texture in the signature close up. Long shot, if anyone recognizes the signature, please let me know.

Guessing it was professionally re-framed at some point. Looks like the person who re-framed it cut out the framer's sticker from when it was originally sold or framed, and taped it on to the back of the new framing for a bit of history.

Really anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Would like to check comparable pieces and not sure how to search. Thanks!

(Taken outside, got a few reflections in the glass.)

    Yes.:)
    Could be silk.
I have a few in the same colour scheme that are painted on silk.

Looks coarser than silk to me, but hard to tell.

That was my thought too. I was recently in Vietnam at a silk worm factory and the threads were very, very, thin, but I am no expert on fabrics.

I’d agree with coarser than silk. Not sure the material but looks to be a Kingfisher bird possibly. If so they were highly prized in Chinese culture for their blue feathers. They were used in making jewelry among other things. If you can find a piece of Chinese jewelry with a kingfisher feathers I think you’re in for big, big bucks these days.

Just googled 'coarse silk' and such a thing exists, so maybe it is.

Shantung silk is also a bit coarse.
