Artists Name Help? C.1916

I was wondering if anyone could help me read this artists name!

Sort of a lot of possibilities with that first letter there lol

I have quite the joke for this exact image but it's a bit.... Risqué.

 

I believe that on Feb 29th, it's "OK" for a girl to propose to a guy! That hen looks pretty determined ....

H.R. Searing? I think it's an adorable sketch, very well done. India ink and the border appears to have been done on a drafting table with a rapideograph pen, so the artist was most likely a man who was an engineer or architect or similar..

 

Here's a pastel by H R Searing. The signature isn't the same, but it's in the 30's so maybe he changed the way he signed?

Looks like a 1957 pastel to me, Bakers. I have bad eyesight, so I could have misread the date, please check for me..

In any event, it doesn't appear to be the same artist's style.

 

41 years later sometime after he realized no one could read it.

The artist probably not done what his wife had told him to do and caught heck for it. Just his way to relieve the stress by drawing it.
