Hi everyone! Nice to meet you! I used to live in Sevilla and have this Sevillarte plate. It is 24 carat gold trim (like many Sevillarte pieces). However, this particular plate looks hand signed and hand painted on the front.

lots of Sevillarte plates are listed online signed, but they just have a printed signature. This is this only 24 carat gold one I have seen with a real signature on.
Does anyone know if this is a rare plate? Maybe it was custom made?

    Thanks

Would you please post a photograph of the back? And tell us... How long ago did you buy it? And where in Seville?

Yes, it was found in my house in Seville. I bought the house in 2019, but the plate could’ve been purchased any time before that

Your plate doesn't appear to be terribly old as the back bears the current branding (and the company was only founded in 1952.) Of course, SEVILLARTE is known for the pieces it produces in the cuerda seca technique but it seems they also produce a small number of hand-painted pieces in a floral motif similar to that in the center of your plate. Here's one example:

I would think the signature would be that of the artisan responsible for the hand painting. (You will see the plate above is similarly signed.) Given it's meant be hung, I don't think your plate is anything more than a pretty decorative piece which caught the eye of your home's previous owner. You can, of course, always ask the company for more information. They can be contacted here:
