@bercrystal Thanks! I think the perfume name is Suivez-Moi. "Follow me" in English. There's quite a bit of history out there on the company. If you could confirm that's the name, I'd appreciate it.

I loved that wood bead bag, but you'll have to guard the Whiting & Davis one from Bear. Apparently "thou shalt not covet they neighbor's donkey, wife etc" doesn't apply to mesh bags. We need a better look at the jools, including backs, to know what's up with all of them.

That big brass one looks Czech, but there's a pot metal and rhinestone brooch that looks like a duette.

The rhinestone is an unsigned duette. I will post on the jewelry board with more details for sure once I get more pictures taken. The one brooch with the red center stone is marked Czechoslovakia.

 

Yes, the fragrance was Suivez-Moi.

Below is the description next to the bottle in the Virtual IPBA Museum.

"Clear and frosted bottle in the shape of an elegant lady wearing a tilted bonnet and a wide hoop skirt. This fragrance was launched in 1925. The bottom of the bottle is acid-etched “House of Tre-Jur”. This bottle came in two sizes. This is a very choice figural in delicate glass with slight touches of patina and originally with ribbon and fabric flowers at the waist. The twisted glass dabber on the bottle is also quite fragile. Hans Flato (1887-1950) did the design of the box and logo of the flapper looking in a mirror that is called “the little one”. The bottle design was patented (#68,726) by Albert Mosheim in 1925. “Suivez Moi” means “follow me."

They also show an example of this bottle where the hat is painted with a blue enamel & her hair as well as her skirt is painted with a bright yellow enamel. I personally do not think it is all attractive.

@bercrystal Thank you so much for the wonderful information. They sell for decent amounts but I am really not sure I can part with her. I am leaning toward keeping her for a while. It's such a sweet piece.

These models are cool. Found this one a few days ago for a very good price. Needs some minor work (mostly the rigging) Nightmare to transport. About 95cm long and 85cm tall.

Thanks. I will try my best. Will do it in stages (my patience and tender care can be thin at times) Yes,she is rather cannon loaded for a single deck.

The guy still has 4 more models (some with greater details) but he is still deciding on selling and on price. But the price will be more because of the increased detail. Nice guy he contacted me afterwards to let me know he found some anchors for my model.

Ha, yes patience can be in short supply sometimes can't it. I spent 100 hours making this little helmet, no problem at all, but the slightest problem with my computer.......

Did the man build the models himself? I have built a few over the years, and will probably do so again when I retire in a few years. They are a great way to spend the time!

But wow that’s a really a beautiful little helmet and amazing detail. Not to sound stupid but congratulations on making something so skillful. And a 100 hours (my word) that’s commitment for you!!

He told me he was given the model as present ago 20 years ago (because he’s boat man) Not sure about the other models. He added his wife doesn’t want them in the house (probably because of the dust thing )

 

I have always marvelled at the integrate details on some of the more complex models. Would love to have the skill and patience (and time) to make models like this. Maybe one day I will give it a go. But will start small and not complex

 

Thank you. The helmet was great fun to make, but a bit of a challenge as it was so small. The helmet was made in exactly the same way as the full size originals, no cheating, or modern techniques allowed!

If you are interested in perhaps trying your hand at making one, I would suggest the Danish firm Billings as a good place to start. They have kits for all levels and are graded as such. I have in the past made a few of them, and they are great fun, though as you say, the larger full rigged ones are a time-consuming challenge. I have made two of them, the Frigate Jylland and the full rigged school ship Danmark.
Billings boats are also fairly inexpensive compared to some.

A model that I would very much like to make is the ZHL model of HMS Victory. The model is some 40" long and nearly 30" high. Two problems with this though, one is that I may not live long enough to ever see it completed, and the other is the cost, some $800 ! They also do an even larger model of her at 54", but this kit is $900 !

This is a true story:

Many years back a friend of mine, a young first year student nurse, wanted to give her father a ship in a bottle for his 60th birthday, something that he had always wanted. However, all those that she found were nearly £100, which as a student nurse she simply couldn't afford. So I said I would make one for her to give to him, which I did. Some 60 odd hours of interesting work later it was finished. She was extremely happy, as was her father a little later on. But, the very next week, my parents were at a bric-a-brac market, and there was a three masted, full rigged clipper in a Dimple whisky bottle, beautifully made and probably by an old sailor, possibly while still at sea......... price.......10p ! Just the gin for my bottle cost me £5 !
