    It is 34" with no clasp. The "beads" are hand knotted between each one. Quite heavy. Is it turquoise, dyed howlite or something else? How can I tell? Thanks for helping me id this. I can provide more pictures if needed.

    Looks like turquoise, but I have a bad hunch it's Chinese stabilized.

    Thanks @evelyb30. I had to look it up. And the description does match what I see and feel when I touch the nuggets and I think you are probably right.

    I'd get it checked out at a jewelry store. I have some turquoise jewelry made by a local artisan back in the day and I got the see the big chunks of turquoise he brought back from AZ and there was some that had that spotted appearance. Are the colors true in your photo or are they washed out?

    I agree with @evelyb30
    It has the appearance of Chinese turquoise.

    @Bev aka thelmasstuff the colors are true. Some are light and some are dark. I think there's a rock and gem shop close by. I could have them take a look.

    @stracci Thank you.

    I will have them checked out and report back.

    Another vote for a nice knotted Chinese strand.

    Very nice, Lizzie, and another vote for Chinese.

    Most Chinese turquoise mines are in Hubei province in central China. They have almost all turquoise types, colours, and qualities imaginable.
    Hubei turquoise is often confused with US turquoise, in fact, many Native American jewellery makers use Hubei turquoise nowadays.

    Thanks everyone! I thought that the knots might indicate that it was of Chinese origin but I at first I wasn't even sure it was real Turquoise. I appreciate all the input.

    I have a vintage Navajo ring with Chinese turquoise. I bought it at a flea and have wondered if the stone was a replacement as the ring is definitely older.
