Maker and/or age for this cedar chest?

I inherited this cedar chest from my mom, who told me it was originally purchased by either her mother (my grandmother), or her grandmother (my great grandmother). Therefore, there's a pretty big range in the possible date of manufacture, and I can't find any serial numbers or maker's marks anywhere.

Any idea which company manufactured it, or at least a ballpark estimate of how old it is?

Id guess 1930s.

 

It does appear to be a 1930s hope chest. They were typically given to young girls once they hit their late teens .

It's 44 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 21 inches tall

Thanks! Yes, the interior in particular looks almost new. I have a strong suspicion the chest was refinished at some point, because the hardware and felt drawer liners look way too perfect to be from the 1930s. That could also explain why I can't find a maker's mark - it may have been sanded off during the refinishing process .

The big maker, of course, was Lane. But there were others.

It does look similar with the rounded corners!

 

I would call it Art Deco Waterfall. Waterfall because the top rounded corners look like waterfalls. To me Transitional is more of a mix of styles, and later than Waterfall.
I have a few Waterfall pieces myself, love those shapes.

It has very similar design elements to my grandmother’s waterfall style Lane chest from approximately 1940.
