Thank you for the explanation of my comment. It's true; I was in fact merely thinking aloud. I hope I didn't lead anyone down unfruitful paths.

It is something all of us regulars do, and I'm sure my random thoughts have also led to confusion in the past. It happens, but as I said, sometimes it also leads to an ID, so it is still useful to think aloud.

You're right, I have to remove it. It belongs into a notebook, not the final paper. I got carried away there... :-/

No, ideas like this are very important, even if they don't lead directly to something "fruitful". I have made a note about the idea, and if I can find something about it in the literature, I'll make sure to remember your comment.

EDIT: I've attached a current version of the file. Please remember that this is a draft.

Thanks -- indeed, the question of why the diamond trade is or has been dominated by Jews is interesting. I didn't have time to look into that much yet. Looking at the paper you linked, it does present some interesting ideas I think, even if its focus is New York, not London. I'll give it a thorough read tomorrow.

    I like footnote 30 though.

    Hello again!

It has been a while, but you may like to know that the article has been finished, and is now part of the collections of the Eureka Centre in Ballarat, Australia, and the Museum Industriekultur in Wuppertal, Germany, where it will be available to researchers.
Once again, I would like to thank all of you for your help (compare the "acknowledgements" section).

I make a copy of the article available via the Google Drive link below. If necessary, I can still make corrections in the future.
