Frame looks maybe 70’s to me? Or can it be 60’s? Typical portrait sketch? Skill level? It’s 26x36cm. The ears bother me (elf ears :)) Any guesses as to the artist name? Thanks for any comments and keep well

He looks so British, doesn't he? These types of pastel portraits were typically done by local artists. Given frame along with volume of hair and collar, I'd think 1960s. Once these leave the family, there's not a lot of value. Unless they're charming children or pretty women.

Hi Debora, thanks for the comment and confirmation regarding the possible date. I agree I would also think low value. Still was trying to figure out the artist (if it was possible)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

To MY eye, it looks a 'bit' overworked, but that's just me.....someone wanted to get it just right!! And I bet the sitter can hear a pin drop!!! I didn't try to guess on the date.....but basically a decent portrait.........

I read "M. Bulitis," a surname apparently but not a very common one.

My father wore a mustache like that...in the late 1930's.
IIRC, it's named after the underlying muscle; arm...something.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

There was an artist/illustrator named Anne Bulitis -- The picture above was not by her - The first initial of the signature does look like an M. But seems unusual to see the name online.

I also found this from Shutterstock, which includes a name "Ints Bulitis" for the man at the left who was an artist.

Also found this for Ints Bulitis: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/en-gb/price-result/oil-on-canvas-ints-bulitis-20th-c-british/

Still, may not be relevant. But perhaps, if the first initial is not M and instead is an I with a squiggle?

Thanks for making such a effort. All very interesting. But yes the initial is certainly a ‘M’ I would think.

Maybe another member of the prolific and creative Bulitis family? If there is one....:)
