These pieces belonged to my grandparents and were professionally appraised more than 30 years ago. The appraisal papers are gone and they have not been treated kindly in the past 20 years. Any insight on style and value is appreciated.

Hi and WELCOME @Gretita! Just posting your image FULL SIZE so others can get a better idea of what you're asking about! You'll find when a little more familiar with the forum that it's always better to post full size images!! And I'm tagging a couple of members who are better at dating some furniture than I am!!! @Ghopper1924, @verybrad can you help a bit please?

The item on the left is a settee that was probably part of a parlor set. The visible wood looks to be mahogany. It's hard to tell much about the arm chair on the right, but the wood seems to be mahogany or walnut. I'd offer a date of 1900-1910.

We don't offer valuations because its difficult to control for all the variables, most particularly your location, which you didn't mention. In my part of the Midwestern USA, value would be minimal, due to the endless depression in the brown furniture market. Condition issues with the upholstery will further bring down the value.

Thank you for the information and help with the picture size. The era seems right after talking to my dad. These were his great aunt’s pieces and my grandpa inherited them. I’m in Northern California.
Based on the damages they have, I’m not sure if it’s worth trying to get an appraisal for selling them or just hope to find someone who wants to take on a restoration project. Everything on them seems original but they are in poor condition right now. I have more pictures if anyone wants to see.

Agree with Ghopper's assessment. Might be worth a bit more in CA but noboddy anywhere seems to want project pieces these days.

Not worthy of an appraisal even if in pristine condition. Just not a lot of demand for such furniture right now and value is low.

Here is a similar era settee I found in a thrift store for $35.00...... This is on the very low end of things but just to show you how rediculously low values have dropped.
