Featured Baroque pearl help please

Discussion in 'Jewelry' started by nifflertreasures, Sep 17, 2019.

  1. Hello, I got this pearl in a large lot of jewelry I bought at auction. It is on a 14K gold chain. When I started to look into the pearls origins, I found that it might be a Mississippi river pearl based on the shape and other indicators. Any ideas, advice, etc. very welcome! We may not be able to confirm it is a Miss. River pearl, but I see nothing that would rule it out.

    Nice find!
I'm sure it is an old river pearl, but not sure if it is Mississippi... They are more indented and thin and flat at the end as a flame:cyclops:

They are not all that 'dog tooth' shape. The one I bought to replace one missing from a brooch is shaped like a peanut.
