Hi Everyone! Looking for a bit of help: I was given this fireguard, and I believe the tiles to be Delft. Some of them look better than others. Is it 'junk' (i.e. 50 EUR or less for the whole thing), or is it something to be treasured?

I believe the tiles are from two different makers, and there is a metal backing to the whole thing so I don't (yet) have photos of the reverse side of the tiles.

    Many thanks for your time!

    MC.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

One of our homes, YEARS ago, had a beautiful Delft surround around the fireplace, very similar looking to what you're showing....which BTW, looks OLD and Authentic, judging from the edges!!! It's Lovely/Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not positive (from what I'm seeing) the framing is as old as the tiles, but I'd have grabbed that in ONE Heartbeat!!!!!

Ain't trash, but I don't think old old for some reason, hard to tell for sure without seeing the backs

I know they still reproduced some with the old techniques so hard to tell

    Definitely hand painted

As said frame doesn't look very old,

@Roaring20s photo is exactly the same as the frame on my fireguard.

I took the frame apart and I'm certain it's like the 1920's screen above.
