    Sometimes.
    Often it's easier to call them back to see their (probably forgotten) thread here, by putting an "@" sign before their name and clicking on it. This will cause them to receive an email to let them know they have messages here. Like this:

    @Sdcookie2 , was here Sat night.....:happy:

    just cuz a member doesn't post .....does not mean that they have forgotten or are ignoring their thread...or answers.!!;););)

    Agree. Also if someone responds to a thread I've posted, or even if someone tags me with the "@" before my name, I (like many others here) receive zero notifications from the site, so no alert. Email alerts used to work perfectly for years, no changes on my end, same computer, same browser. I have to go in and manually check and many a time I thought a thread was concluded only to find more responses I had no idea were there.

    So in some cases may be that the poster is expecting an alert. And assumes no alert means no responses.

    It doesn’t bother me, I learn a lot from the threads here :)

    Thanks for the tag. I haven't received notifications for some time now.
    As for responding to this thread, I wasn't asking for anyone's advice. Therefore no response. The piece was purchased from an Antiques Roadshow glass appraiser, so I already knew it was genuine. Actually just sold it two days ago to a gallery in France.
    I generally thank people who help out.
