Went to a tag sale I wasn't planning on hitting, I wasn't even planning on getting up before 9AM, and found a vase for $2. Oops! The base was marked Gustavsberg 1920 and a conjoined decorator/designer/something mark. It turned out to be.. Josef Eckberg, who worked for the factory as a designer and died in 1945. The factory was around from 1826 until some time in the 1990s. Found similar pieces on line and ...dingdingding.... It's now in my "good stuff" spot, out of harm's way. It has what almost looked like a chip, but it has original glaze over it so it's factory original.

The original owners used one of those cork adapters to use it as a lamp. Thank goodness nobody drilled a hole in it.

Did you find it that way? Without the lamp stuff on it? Can't believe it was only $2, seller must not have looked at the "chip" very closely. Even so, I would still buy it and keep it for myself if nothing else. It's just beautiful and wonderful to look at!

BTW, what is that vase in the background on the left?

Great find! Vase in back looks like Newcomb College or maybe S.E.G. ?

Wonderful design. I figured you had to be from Conn. or there abouts when you used the term "tag sale" . I lived in Conn. twice- Darien and Wilton. I remember the wonderful tag sales. My dining room table came from one. In fact a great deal of my parents best furniture came from Conn.

I showed the other when I scored it - Newcomb College circa 1906. I've got the lamp plug out in the trunk of my car; it was held in with cork and simply lifted out. I'll hand that part off to a local antique dealer. The lamp itself is going nowhere at least for a while.

Newcomb; I showed it in here before. That was the holy grail find from last year.

They call them tag sales, yard sales and garage sales here, pretty well interchangeably. And yes, Hartford County CT. Goofy stuff turns up in yard sales here sometimes. Not as often as it used to, but sometimes.

I remember the Newcomb score, Ruth. Find of the year.

Mom wants a new car, so the NC might become a 4-cylinder at some point.
