Just acquired this piece and while I can find vaguely similar online, I can not find one close enough to research information. Would love to know any words I can use to search, design, style, shape or a name given to this type vase. Opinion on it authenticity are very welcomed, good bad or ugly. I know there is a lot of experience in here.

    Thanks all

No problem @verybrad, as in my post I indicated that I just acquired it. Picking up tomorrow. I appreciate you looking and searching. Thank you.

Won at an auction last night, and picking it up tomorrow. I can not tell at this time if molded or carved from auction house photos, but can provide better one soon.

Some of the indications I liked about this piece(and I am aware most every feature can be duplicated these day) is the bottom of the foot is not smeared with dirt, red iron ore discoloring as well as poor highlight reflection from the glaze. Well and of course the beauty and balance I feel from it. In image searching google bing and yandex. I haven't been able to find another like this. Assuming if it was a mold I would think they’d be similar in decoration out there. That said…. I am such an amateur :)

It's very nice, but whether good, bad or indifferent, I dunno! I have seen some in this style, and it does appear to have some age (although I think 20th c.). The cracking in the glaze is perhaps a bit problematic, but love the colour (deep celadon) and the pattern!

Thanks for looking, I agree completely. *thumbs-up*

For me, of course I hope for the best, didn't over pay and really like it a lot. It seems like quality, so I'm happy. One thing I appreciate is it is not attempting to be a fake by planting an emperor’s mark. So 20th c or 11th c ;D ;) :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: is all good.

You say you have seen this style, any search words as I still have poor search results? I get a lot of Yaozhou ware but not this decor, and very very very skeptical at the very least. Still looking

Is not my type of research chinese Longquan yuan ming. The foot for me look good in my eye wood kiln burn. The crackle does look great. You might want to compare this to Sotheby's or christies ones to see if look decent. Am telling you know everything is being faked. But this does look good even am not in study of this type or period. Famille rose I love

I wish I could tell you what search words to use, but Chinese celadon 20thc vase would be my starting point. However, I'm really bad at google searches. There are bats (which are symbols of good fortune) with foliate decor, I think stylized lotus leaf design around the base, the Chinese character in the centre could mean wealth or happiness, but I dunno, and dragon handles. If you find out more, please come back and let us know!

Just adding a few photos now that I have it in my possession, hopefully might help someone’s opinion. 7F403EC1-6E4A-4BB6-B72C-D2A0C7A6D2E7.jpeg 40BD1086-963E-4AA3-9A08-6145C58C4464.jpeg 61C6DF1C-A14C-4C9B-BBFE-3879A17066A0.png 464030A9-8BF3-4A50-A545-7351A09F9468.png 1BBD2DA2-BCB9-4FD9-892E-36FC14EFB433.png

I am far from an expert - and I can't put my finger on exactly why - maybe it's the crazing - but if I had to guess on this I would guess modern - not antique.

I’m not seeing that, but I'm far from an expert too. :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
Just looking at the last photo the bottom outline shows it was not a poured mold. I think that is what most modern vases are nowadays. But maybe not. Someone should know :)

I respect your opinion, thank you.

I have no idea. But’s a real nice looking vase and interesting question regarding age. Also I noted there’s a new member on the forum: Chineseantique specialist. Maybe ask him for a opinion?

Adding to the above search I think the symbol in the middle of the vase is shou for wealth and prosperity. Try searching chinese celadon vase with shou symbol perhaps.

A thanks to you both for your input. Just a note on my photos, the ones in my OP are more true to the color, ones I posted later are not. I had 4 100W LED bulbs on it. A little over kill for my camera. Lesson learned :)

will try that search *thumbs up*

Yes, the glaze cracks and crazing is not done on purpose on your vase. They are, unfortunately, a defect which might decrease value but by how much, I dunno. They occur when a piece is subjected to heat and cold extremes.

For $15 Peter Combs will make you a custom video with an in depth description of your vase and its value. I’ve sent him photos of a few things and was pleased with his assessments. https://bidamount.com/chinese-antiques-identification-assistant-services

Thinking Peter Combs might be a good route to take. I have used him before to with decent results.

Based on @Chinoiserie recommend search I have finally come up with a few similar in type, but personally don't like any as they look terrible to me and asking prices are a joke for what they are selling, such is the fake market(what's wrong with these people) Take a look for your self. Is there something I am not seeing?

Some people believe everything they read. It makes me laugh when they value something at over a grand and then only provide one photo. Arf.

If you’re really stuck on something $15 ain’t bad to get you unstuck. Your vase doesn’t look brand new but the odds of finding a Chinese ceramic diamond in the rough in an auction that’s taking online bids are so small I’m always skeptical. A republic era piece like this would probably still be worth some decent money I’d think. It is nice looking to my eye isn’t trained enough on Chinese ceramics to really mean much. I watch Peters videos nearly every week so I feel like I’m learning more and more but I still haven’t had enough good stuff in my hands to speak with much confidence. I hope yours turns out to be as old as you hope or older.

I only looked at your first link but for me personally if it’s an Asian antique and it’s not shipping out of America or Europe I’m skipping it. You can still get burnt plenty out of USA or EU but you skip some of the risk out of Asia. There are lots of good Chinese things in Japan I hear though, so maybe it would be a worthwhile risk in some situations.
