First, let me apologize for not having the dimensions. My water tank burst
and this black leather sachel was thrown out by the mitigation company
because of water damage before I could take dimensionand they did not
take dimensions either. This is the only picture that mitigation company took.
My insurance company has asked me to assign dates to pictures of water damaged
items and to submit them for insurance claim. So, I would like to ask what decade do you think this black leather sachel could be from. The shape of it reminds me of a kindergarten sachel that I used to have when I went to school. However, I believe my dad, who I inherited this from, used it to store slide magazines in. Thank you for assistance in this request. Regards sachel-smaller.jpg , Rob

Your know... In 1964, the fashion designer Bonnie Cashin introduced those turn lock/toggle fastenings in her early designs for Coach as well as her fashion and accessories collections. Your satchel reflects her influence and will be a tad later as not a fashion-forward item.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I'm not picking the age, but if you're talking magazines from the 60's, maybe size- wise.....might be 15"-17" wide and 13"-15" tall???? Just a guess........

Thank you, I will add that decade to my water damage list.

If you choose to "monkey" with it... I've washed leather bags and purses in the washer... believe it or not! You can use some saddle soap and a toothbrush on the seams and fittings; then after it goes through a cold wash, rinse and spin with some woolite... I stuff it firmly with paper and rather "hand block" it into shape before it dries. I like using clean news roll paper ends - works well - absorbs water but doesn't compact as easily as other paper when wet. After it dries well, I condition it with leather conditioner and (leather stain - if you wish) and then a nice leather wax. Voila! If it smells horrid; I don't know if that will help enough, but it seems to take out "musty" smells.

Thank you for the sound advice. I will keep this information in case I am in that situation. This bag got trashed by the mitigation company.
