Featured Interesting Antique Basket Needing Identification

Large Round squat Basket tightly woven and quite hard needing ID. Measures 15.5 inch Diameter and is 4 inches high. Very beautiful center Star Pattern that Bursts outward towards the top rim. Th e top rim has a dark pattern that looks to be Reeds that have been naturally dyed black before weaving the pattern. Definitely old and a very beautiful tight and hard Basket! I originally thought it might be Nantucket but was wrong. Any Help would be Highly Appreciated! Gary K

An update, and revised opinion - when researching your basket I found a very similar one listed on etsy, which I purchased. I now have it in hand, and see that the material is not what I thought when looking at your photos. It appears to be a finely split vine rather than root, perhaps nito vine, which is used in the Philippines. I was fooled by the technique and design, which closely matched the northern European examples I posted. I would now lean more toward an origin in the Philippines (or somewhere nearby), although I have yet to find a well identified example that uses the same design technique - wrapping sections of the coil and varying the stitching to create a pattern. The nito baskets I have seen rely on color change to create the design while keeping the stitching pattern evenly spaced.

Update - these baskets are most probably made in the village of Tenganan, on the island of Bali. This one listed on etsy by a seller who purchased it in Tenganan in the 90s:
