best sale was a Barovier patchwork vase - I bought it on Lincoln Road in Miami where EVERYONE is looking for MCM and it was right under their nose - I paid $100 and I sold it on eBay for $5K to a dealer in Paris France who bought it for resale...

WOOT! I'd never heard of Barovier either, but ...dingdingding. The bells in the back of your head rang so heard they banged on your skull and each other. Gotta love it when that happens, especially when all and sundry walked right by.

I sell mostly glass online. This market is a tough one for sure. When shopping I try to go for pieces that took a lot of labor to make. I try and steer clear of any mass produced items. Hand painted and heavily decorated pieces are favorite buys. Well cut glass also. I stay away from Waterford because their quality is very overrated in my opinion, even though it still sells. Vaseline glass seems to be a good choice too.
I donate most of my low end glass that comes from auction lots.

My best return was buying a 19th century beaker at a local auction for $100. I sent it to Europe to be auctioned. It got an astounding 8000 euros, which at the time equated to $9500. I was VERY happy to pay the auctioneers commission!! Of course this will never happen again but it sure was nice!
