hi folks. thought id share the results of my attempt to string a necklace.

    a continuation of

    https://www.antiquers.com/threads/broken-loose-green-gold-beads.77311/#post-9270351

bought some proper string, but was far harder to do than i expected, tiny holes in the beads, hard to get uniform knotting as well, just looked amateur hour.

decided to use dark strong fishing line leader in the ended and took about 5 mins.

ive made it in the syle that i like as im keeping and wearing it

long enough to slip over head without the need of a clasp, no graduating beads

the gold spacers were not enough to fill the whole necklace (some most have got lost) but filled it to get a good length

looks and feels so lavish, heavy

    any thoughts appreciated

Looks good Charlie,i wonder why more bead collectors don't do this (restring) ? Maybe you've got a knack & some folks don't have the fine motor control.

Thanks mate, stringing on gut string was mega easy

Tying the knots at the right position on string was far far harder than I thought it would be

I'm sure there's a technique, but couldn't find one on youtube

Not to mention trying to thread the beads onto string

    Tight proper job Chas.
Must be baking over on the Isle ? We were in London in April,it was 80-85 degrees on top of a double-decker bus !
PS-Google just auto- suggested i use the phrase 'double-peck*r bus'.
AI smart ?...don't know, but it is a bit randy.

You're correct, there is a video on utube. How to knot when stringing beads

It looks simple but somewhat tedious. Whatever you did to knot the beads turned out very well. You have to back up and start the video at the beginning.

I hand-knot and tedious about covers it. It's really knot (ahem) that difficult. Just be sure to glue the final knot in the cording so that it can't open up on you. Otherwise, 52-pickup!

Before you watch the 'How to knot when stringing beans' video,be sure to watch Pt. 1-'How not to knot when stringing beads' vid. It'll help you avoid all the more commonplace mistakes.

I stopped making jewelry because I have arthritis and my fingers just don't have the right limberness to tie knots or do fine work any more. I miss it.
