This is from Winnipeg and I believe a sketch done by Native Canadians. It looks like it is done with pencil. Anyone with any more insight on this? Winnipegart.jpg

What "Winnipeg Art Gallery" is it from? What were you told about it? Is there a frame? If yes, would you include a photograph of the entire framed work? Is there anything on the back?

Very nice graphite piece-do you think it's an original ? Show us all the stuff Debora mentioned.
Komo's forgotten way more about the gallery biz than i'll ever know-always a perilous venture,i've seen a lot of superb ones go in the last 50 years.

It was bought from the WAG around 1980. I just found that it say “Friends”, 8/15, Thorneycroft May 79 on the very bottom of it. frame.jpg

Would you be kind enough to post a photograph of the signature?

If it reads 8/15, it is likely a multiple. The 8th out of an edition of 15. Winnipeg + Thorneycroft = Diana Thorneycroft so you will want to see if the signature is hers. You can always ask either her or WAG. Given date, it would likely have been a student piece.

Yes. One reason this would be an early piece.

Yeah. Or could be student signature vs. mature signature. Comparison doesn't rule out.
