How can I tell what this belt hook is made of?

Hi, Happy Sunday everyone! Haven't been on for an age, just catching up on everyone's entries today. Is there any way to tell what this belt hook is made of? Any thoughts? Thank you much!

seeing as how you already know it's a belt hook......it's likely to be jade....but from your little photo.....not white jade...

 

I used to think it was a shower curtain hook, haha. That was about 40 years ago. I just "re-found" going through a few boxes I had stored away for years, and looked up what it was used for. You're right, instead, I should have asked if there was a way to tell if it was a look alike, could it be glass? Thanks for your response.

 

These are usually nephrite jade, and that's what yours looks like too. In this case celadon (pale green), a very sought after colour.
I always like them, have a few myself.

 

This is where a gem tester comes in handy as it will indicate jadeite or not.
