I picked this up at a thrift store the other day (I really like the watermelons and the odd shape of the cup) they don’t seem like they match that much but they came together as if they were a set

I have no idea what this is or anything about it

there’s no mark underneath the saucer and the bottom of the cup only says “3+35.”

does anyone have any idea what this might be and when it was produced and by whom? Any information and insights are very appreciated

    thank you very much

I am certain that it is Made In Japan - it would have had a paper label and it was long since removed - it's called pearlware by some....

Definitely not a matched set, someone put them together since they are both Japanese pearlware.
I'm not convinced that those are watermelons on the saucer... perhaps some type of gourd?

Thank you all very much. If it’s pearlware does that mean it is antique? Or a modern production of pearl ware? I’m new to pottery and still have alot to Learn. Thank you for your patience! ☺️

Ah, yes, lusterware (aka lustreware).

My guess would be that it's from somewhere in the first half of the 20th century but Japanese cups and saucers are not my forte or interest, I stick with English stuff.
