    hi folks

this was found today in a charity shop outside giveaway crate
probably because there has been a hole drilled through the middle for some reason (for plant pots?)

i think its got some good age to it though, maybe even pre 19th century

theres a small old dealers label on it thats says chia cheng, do they mean chia ching ?

might be something very nice that has been ruined

    any thoughts or info appreciated

Looks like a kangxi mark on the back mate. Could have some age.

Possibly been converted into a lamp or something else at some point. Hence the hole.

Thanks buddy, I wouldn't be surprised if it was that kind of age

What a shame about the hole, think it was drilled a long time ago though

Yeah but it didnt have a hole, you might have had to pay 50p for it

I dont think the hole detracts away from it too much. Things of that age quite often have big chips or staples in them. It's in remarkably good condition.

:joyful:;);) and there's me complaining :)

I got confused with my qianlongs and my kangxis

    That's earlier right ?

If it's right I've set myself a new record for age

Yeah much older. There is a lot of stuff knocking about such as prunus ginger jars with double rings on, but these are mainly early 20th C tributes to kangxi. I think though if they have buddhist symbols in the middle they are then real deal. Not 100percent so dont get excited, but it looks like the real deal to me with the decor and the off colour to the base rim.

All that said, I think it is a saucer with the tea bowl missing, which is more of an issue than the hole. Still, very nice.

could be i guess, seems a bit big and deep for a saucer though

Might be for a really big tea bowl.

Yes I see what you mean with that perspective.

The base rim colour is good. Think they still got good clean white glaze back then, although it doesn't have any pit marks. I am no expert though and it's all a bit of a mine field.

Gotheborg says the Artimisia leaf mark is early 20th century.

I think there were both, kangxi marks and honorific

The proper kangxi ones are of course finer painted

Not just as simple as the mark though is it. It's the look, feel, decor, the way it pings....

Edit, I'm sure the leaf could have been painted in many different ways and still be legit.
