That time has come and now need to sell this. I was hoping someone would help me . Would ebay be best or a auction house? How much is reasonable? Thanks vicky
I think you misunderstood *crs*. Morris Ware was a range of pottery by the Hancock company. Yes, your item is Morris Ware by Hancock & Sons. I even see a partial signature of George Cartlidge to the left of the round sticker. As Morris Ware goes, your piece is very plain. HERE and HERE are similarly plain pieces currently for sale (for pricing reference - but keep in mind they are not sold prices, which are generally lower). What size is your piece?
Re partial signature- From what I remember there was somthing said about the signature that made it more valuable. I thought it was not signed by George but by someone else possibly.
George Cartlidge's stuff is desirable and can bring very nice prices... but not so much for his plain pieces, like you have. The links I provided in my first response are to plain GC pieces. The partial signature on your piece definitely looks like George's. Your piece (you appear to have an abbreviated version of his signature, the GeoC of GeoCartlidge): A full George Cartlidge signature on another piece (found on the internet):
There appears to be a full stop at the end of the signature. Could this be a brother ? I don't think the signatures look the same . Do you think ?
As I've already stated, your piece appears to me to have an abbreviated George Cartlidge signature. I do think the signatures look the same... accept for yours being abbreviated.
