Another rescue from the bargain box of boot booty.
Has anyone seen a clasp like this? It’s seized solid but I don’t know which way to slide, push or wiggle it to try to loosen it!
The silver plate is very worn but I quite like the colour it is now.
Any idea of age? I thought maybe German with the metal plaque but that’s a WAG!
    C15cm across
    Thankyou :)

Wd40 might do it. German sounds right.

    I’ll give it a go!
    Any idea of age please?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The clasp appears to have previously slid towards its rounded side. That's all I have, though. Have never seen one like that, either!

WD40 was what intended to say; but I won't. What is the writing that is on the slider?

Kind of thin to be a purse. Pill box maybe or a cigarette case?

If you use WD40, be sparing. Put a little on a q-tip and work it around the lock. WD40 is easy to overuse.

Oil on fabric is not a good scene. At least part of that piece on top is supposed to slide over, looks like.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Since it (the 'lock') doesn't look quite evenly situated, I wonder if it turns sideways.....might be worth a GENTLE try to wiggle that way on the thicker part that's NOT slid under the two pieces....if that makes sense to you......

might also help to tightly squeeze the two sides together as you try the latch it may be putting pressure on the catch.
