My wife and I were shopping around for estate sales outside of our area, and we saw this antique sideboard and took it home. The photos attached are from the estate sale.
The sideboard is still wrapped in plastic inside our garage. The family from the estate sale doesn't know much about the history of it. All they know it was purchased a long time ago from an antique shop. The wood carving looks hand carved. At least to us. The etched mirror door panels looks unique.

Any ideas who was the manufacture? By the design of the etched mirror, which era could it be from? The top will require some sanding and repair/redcoat and we wanted to make sure it is fine to start repair & restoration, or if leaving the way it is will be better to hold its value? Thanks!

Oh how lovely ! Im guessing 1920s,but I could be way off. That mirror treatment makes this piece sing!

It wants to be French but I have my doubts. For some reason, I am getting a mid-century Italian vibe. Back appears to be plywood? Some more pictures are probably in order to really pin this down.

Not sure if the back is plywood or not. Will post more photos when we remove it out of the garage.

Can you also get a photograph of the drawer construction? I am thinking 40's/50's.

The design on the doors is cut, not etched. If it's frosted it is because they were left unpolished :)

The front of the mirror feels smooth/flat. Is the glass cut on the silver side of the mirror?

those mirrored panels could be an owner addition and could have originally been plain glass. The panel boards look like they have been removed in the past.

Lots of plywood there. I think just post-WWII at the earliest. Could be even a few decades newer.

Thanks. Quick question. I heard and have seen dovetail drawers before. This sideboard doesn't have dovetail. From the photos of the drawer and the inside shelf, they appear to be locked into each other without use of nails, etc. I am not sure the exact term is. Just curious what term is this type of drawer/shelf style called? Thanks again.

Is the last photo the drawer? If so, they seem to be mitred at the corners and use some type of hidden joinery. Possibly some type of rabbet joint.

I think the manufacturer was 'marrying' a pier table design into a sideboard. Interesting piece, but I also think more 1950s.
