    It looks and smells old. Provenance came from an estate sale on Long Island. I thought the hand made wood peg poke out due to wood shrinkages? Or was this one made to fake that

    I don't see it on your photo's, but if you have pegs poking out it can be due to the fact that the wood wasn't dried properly before it was used. A lot of fairly recent Indonesian 'colonial' furniture has that.

    Agree, the exposed pegs are one of the reasons I think modern Indonesian.
