Market for Gonder Pottery?

Based on what I see on eBay there isn't a whole lot of demand for Gonder Pottery. Would you consider it in the same tier as Haeger Pottery although not as prolific?

Yes. I think you've pretty much summed it up. As a seller I avoid Gonder; it just doesn't sell. I will occasionally buy Haeger for resale based on the shape and/or glaze.

A collection of Gonder pottery was at the local auction house. I decided to pass. The best of the lot was a pitcher and 4 tumbler set which sold for $20. The rest of the vases/planters sold for $5 choice and the winning bidder selected 4 or 5. After that the auctioneer got irritated and set the rest back for future sale.

 

Gonder and a lot of the lesser Hull, Haeger, and Brush lines really have decorative value only. Might as well put plants in them - they don't have any art pottery appeal.

Many auctioneers in this area have stopped conducting auctions and let their licenses expire. They finally realized the old days of high prices weren't coming back anytime in the near future. To an extent they are stuck in the middle. Some consigners haven't realized that the market is not what it used to be and blame the auctioneer for the low prices. I've seen these collections returned to the consigner when the first few lots don't bring much interest.
