Of course, in the greater scheme of things, you are correct. In my world where this stuff is cheap, I see a lot of it, and I don't really need it, I am not going to pay $60.00. Obviously, no one else thought it was cheap or they would have snatched it up. There is a similar vintage Lane cedar chest for $50.00 there that is still sitting. It is missing some trim work on the front so I also thought it overpriced.

    Brad-Do you reckon that's 1920's,some kind of Spanish,Flemish revival ?

Looks like. 1920s for certain. It wouldn't ring my chimes, but it's small enough to fit in a corner somewhere.

It is traditional revival but not true to any particular style. Your take on it is as good as any. A lot of this stuff gets lumped under the style term, jacobethan, with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

It drips with the 1920-30's California Spanish Bungalow,Faux Tudor-Old Hollywood Baby ! I like the Jacobethan mix.

There hasn't been much cheap thrift store antiques of late. There was a nice Eastlake walnut bedroom set (bed, marble top dresser, and marble top wash stand) for $450.00 but not dirt cheap. Probably should have photographed it for here because it was pretty nice. Otherwise, what I have here are some things that did not sell originally and went to half price.

This oak press-back rocker was $35.00 and sat for a few weeks and is now $17.50. Still had not sold as of yesterday. Thought the back most unusual.

This set of 6 chairs sat for weeks at $60.00. Finally did sell when marked down to $30.00. Even then, they did not sell right away.

Lastly, this was reasonable for $5.00 but I really photographed due to what I found under the chair seat. So often we see these cafe chairs here and peg them to the 20s or 30s. This one has a stamped date of 1978 on the bottom of the label (The later written date must relate to something else). I probably would not have placed this quite this late. I probably would have said 50s-60s due to the vinyl seat. Just shows how a classic style gets reinvented for decades.

Would have pegged that last chair as earlier, too!

They still make those cafe chairs for commercial seating. There are worse ways to spend $5 if you need something to sit on.

A few things to show this week. I did not buy any of them.

This transitional walnut table, needing some leg repair, was $15.00.

This mahogany settee was $35.00. Nice solid piece with unusual incised detailing on the corners. Probably will not sell readily since the upholstery is not the best and the rest needs sprucing.

Not cheap but interesting to see a nice Heywood Wakefield desk show up at the thrift. I just can't imagine anyone donating this. Priced at $600.00 but they would likely negotiate.

Desks however are a tough sell. They were hot for a minute, but then kids went back to school. Otherwise I'd expect a Heywood Wakefield piece to move first. Since it's a desk, who knows.

I bought one of those HW kneehole desks a few weeks ago, listed on Facebook for $30. It needs refinishing, but obviously there are people out there who just see an old desk and don't bother to research what they have. These sell in the $600-$1500 range on Chairish.

The Heywood Wakefield desk was gone pretty quickly. I don't know what they got for it but dooubt more than a 20% discount since it had just come in.

Here are a few thing seen this week. This nice appearing office chair has replaced wheels and a broken mechanism. Not really sure what was wrong with it. It was priced $20.00 but offered to me for $5.00 if I wanted it. I am sure I could have replaced the mechanism and/or complete base pretty easily with parts on hand. I declined as I really don't need another project. It was still sitting there after several days.

This pair of T-back chairs have nice replaced embossed leather seats. The side chair was $5.00 and the rocker $8.00. Still there after 3 days too.

This desk is not in bad shape and a bargain at $8.00.

Forgot to post this one last week. This has been sitting for weeks and is now down to $37.50 from an original price of $150.00. Only a few missing veneer pieces that can be seen here. Otherwise very good condition and knobs are original.

I'm going to guess that those who need it have no way to get it home. That's why it's sitting.
