Featured What type of coral is this?

    Not jewellery but I know the great and the good on here are so knowledgeable!
    I bought a vintage evening bag for the bag which happened to have some random bits inside including this coral.
    Any ideas of what type of coral please? , I can’t match it quite online with all the little dots on it.Or is it just a bit broken?
    Any way of knowing if it’s an old specimen or recent (hope not…:confused:)
