1 sm.jpg 1 2.jpg 1. 3.jpg 14.jpg i5.jpg Hi all, new member here trying to figure out if some medallions are real gold or not. I've found conflicting info online and the stamps are hard to read. Would love your help!

The first one reads: Gold Medallion for 1913 Egyptian Ladies A
    aprox 8.9 gr

The second one (front pic the color is off, see the back pic for the real color) is in an unknown language.
    aprox 11.6 gr

Has anyone here seen these or has experience with them?

Ah, that’s better! So much easier to see. Don’t worry, almost everyone struggles with loading photos the first time!
I can’t help with the medallions but I’m sure someone will be here soon to help.

interesting that both bales seem to be very similar .....
I would think neither is real gold...

You might want to consider Greek as the language for the last one.

I a bit rusty of my ability to decipher Egyptian purity marks, but that looks like a good mark on the top one

thats a good point about the bales, especially if they are supposedly from different socio-geographic areas.

21k according to the link I posted. (That is if it's genuine.)

That's why it's always helpful to show the entire item -- bale, ribbon, etc. -- along with information about where it was acquired and what one knows about it.

That part can be tricky. In some parts of the world purity and quality do not not always travel hand in hand

Quite possible it was made in both brass & gold. Yours definitely has an Egyptian assay mark that looks to me like 21K double struck. The karatage of Egyptian gold is not always an exact match for the assay mark, but have not previously seen a mark applied to something that wasn't gold at all. Museum replicas made to be gift shop items are sometimes made in 2 quality levels.

The second one is brass. Think the little circles are dividers, not the letter O. For the rest, it's a very limited character set, if characters they are. I, X, V, T, H, & something that looks like a backward uppercase gamma. Like a cross between Greek letters & Roman numerals.
