I was looking for some expertise on these beautiful Sevres I found in a gorgeous gallery in Spain, they are napoleon the third apparently and and any minor issues with condition can be restored by an excellent restorer I know and trust. They are porcelain. I don’t know if it’s artwork is of any significance. I can buy these for around €2500 including shipping and import tax but wanted to check their value with an expert or anyone who knows the field and can offer any thoughts on this piece. Is €2500 a good price assuming it arrives in perfect condition? Or is he pulling my leg? Thank you all very much in advance.

I see, I’m new to this so I appreciate it. I shall ask the current owner.

Where abouts should they be found? And assuming they will be as I believe they are genuine, would you know the value?

Pardon me Henry......but for a 21 year old you seem to be flush with cash...and have the taste level of a much older man !!

Not unheard of.........but neither is it a normal occurrence ......:confused:

You may wish to post on the Introductions FORUM....and tell us a little about yourself and how u acquired such a taste for this type of antique ......;):happy:

I'm not sure for this type of mantle piece.....maybe under the lid......but if he's selling these as Sevres......... he should know where the marks are !!

Fair enough for you to ask. I myself have very little cash but my father collects art and we recently stumbled upon these gorgeous pieces and were looking to decorate our new house, but before buying multiple pieces we wanted to see if his valuations were fair. We bought a stunning mirror that will be fully restore.
My tastes vary from property to property, in an Edwardian house like our own these ornaments look wonderful and would make great centre pieces. Further more if they’re worth any money above his valuation I’m sure our restorer wouldn’t mind the extra business.

    that's fair as well !

    I'll add this.....
you gotta do your homework because there are a lot of '''similar''' items on the market ...

& prices are all over the place....with many sellers only thinking they know what they have. !!!

It's shit late here in Montreal........so wait till tomorrow when the real experts of this site will come out to play.........& the amateur collectors as well !!!

    Chow !

Yes, my homework is exactly what I’m attempting to do here as I know the slightest thing can sway an avid collector as opposed to a regular consumer. Prices always fluctuate depending on the seller so I’m entering with a cautious mindset.
Montreal is fantastic so enjoy your night, when I visited I put on 2KG in one week due to the amazing food.
Have a good one and cheers for introducing me to the forum.

There are lots of this type of item 'in the style of' around. The clunky finishing of the bronze castings on the one you posted compared to the one komokwa found for you is a cause for concern.

Agreed, however this can be restored to its former glory by a 4th generation restorer I trust to do a stellar job if it’s deemed to be worthy of such refurbishment.

I think you may have mis-understood my point. Look at the edges of the castings, they are sharp and relatively crudely finished in the metal work - ie these may be copies. I'm not talking about the gilding or surface treatment, but the actual casting itself.

Oh wow ok, I shall receive pictures of the markings today and keep you updated. He seemed very genuine but you never know. I believe it may have just been damaged over the years hence why he has it in the first place as a restorer. I shall ask for in-depth pictures of the casting. Is the casting worth refurbishing?
