Inherited doll from late 30's need help with Identification

    As for restringing, there are rules. Best to get a book from the library, or find a video as suggested.

    Doll companies did not always use exactly the same fabrics, since once they ran out it was not always possible to exactly replicate. So a later issuance of the same doll could wear a dress made of a different fabric. Other than the details of the flowers, the rest of the dress looks the same style to me. So there is that...But yes, you would think the dress should be tagged. Also, sometimes later owners made replacement dresses. I don't think this is probably the case here, though.
