Antique Scarf Holder ... or Something Else?

My late grandmother was keeping scarves in this holder (unopened dimensions: 15" x 5.5 ") but I'm wondering whether it's originally intended purpose was something else.

My niece has requested the scarf collection. If this is indeed a scarf holder, I would pass it along to her with the collection of scarves. If not, I would leave it out.

Any help with this would be most appreciated.

I would suspect for fine leather gloves........

but I guess it could hold silk scarves too....

It does seem to make more sense (the dimensions) as a glove holder, thank you!

Given the shape, and how it folds up, I'd say it's a glove purse or something like that. It looks a bit impractical to have to fold up your scarfs so many times to fit them into there.

It does appear to be a glove holder and older than the scarves in view. Do let us know if your niece needs help identifying age and value (beyond sentimental, of course) of scarves.

    Gloves and/or ties seems reasonable.
IMHO def not for scarves as one wouldn't normally fold them in that manner and then put them in something that would flatten/press in those folds.
