OP can find a buyer that XRF tests each piece and shows them the report. May take some time to find but there is probably one out there. A reputable jeweler in their town/city is probably not too likely to rip them off.

I have learned so much from everyone here. I have ordered a testing kit that includes the acids the test stones, a scale and an N35 magnet. I will start with something I know is gold and learn. I printed the directions from above. I am truly grateful for all of the knowledge that everyone shared with me and as someone said you have yo start somewhere.

Sad thing is I heard he was reputable. But I will as was suggested go to more than 1 & will test, weigh everything first.

And now I am armed with great information and will test & weigh. So at least I will know going in about it.

When it comes to scales, gram weights will do fine but a kitchen scale probably isn't accurate. I have an old mechanical dram scale, but a small electronic one would probably be a better idea. Oneline conversion sites will give you prices by gram, troy ounce, etc.

As others have said, best to start with a magnet. If a clasp sticks that means nothing; clasps have steel springs in them.

A dram scale is a really old one made for measuring small quantities of metals or pharmaceuticals. Not used much any more (1 dram = 1.77g or thereabouts). Letter scales will do for a good rough idea for metals, but they're not exact.

Thanks evelyb30, reminds me of my old portion scale that is a bit too heavy for me to lug into the kitchen. Komokwa, yes indeed I should go to the local University & find a young entrepreneur. However since most states made it legal for marijuana to be sold I think there businesses took a major hit!

Unless they're selling something else. There's a hot market for Ritalin, I'm told.

Be careful with the acid. You get that on your skin and it may not feel like anything but it will leave a nasty burn

Thank you. I’m always worried around chemicals. I keep bare minimum in my house.

I am not sure if this should be a new post or not. I received my order of chemicals. Before the package was even opened it smelled like commercial grade bleach. Concerned I put on gloves, opened it and yup the smell was so over whelming, tried to contact the company to no avail does anyone know how I can dispose of them? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you. I finally was able to get in touch with the company. Apparently, there should have been a protective layer of chemical absorbing paper & bubble wrap that was not correctly done. It was just placed in the bag. So they are now going to update their website with proper instructions stating how to properly dispose of the acids. Which is fairly easy which I have so kindly volunteered my husband to do. Baking soda in a bowl that is either wood or plastic and put the chemicals in that, once the fizzing stops they are considered neutralized and can be disposed of as regular trash. Who knew. Now if only the smell would dissipate and my skin would cool off & my always low blood pressure would go down all will be good.

Oh, are you saying that they leaked? Sorry, I didn't understand that from your initial inquiry about your package.
Glad you found out how to dispose of them safely!

    Too much drama

    Rinse off spilled with water

If container is leaking put it in another

If you don't want them, down the drain with water

Yes, they leaked, 3 opened and I know never to pour chemicals down a drain, regardless of the amount, same for “flushing it down the toilet” it pollutes and is so bad for the environment.
