Found this posted locally for sale. The sideboard is dated 1652. Could it be that old, I don't know? What do you guys think?

Always possible. Victorians did extensive "restorations" on many of these Jacobean pieces though so it's probably not all original. Beautiful still.

Elizabeth I died in 1603, so I’m not quite sure which Elizabeth they’re referring to, 49 years later and all. Most of the elements I can see look more like 1883 than 1653. Nevertheless, it’s not impossible that some older elements were repurposed, as the Victorians did indeed love the 17th Century.

    Definitely need more photos!!

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@baileybae, I hope you don't mind, I brightened it a bit JUST to make the carving a bit easier to see....carvers can add any date they like, but it is a lovely piece, and I'd listen to what most of the members have to add! Are there any other marks or writing inside, on the back or bottom of it any where to help in dating it....can you show how it's been made or joined by opening doors, or the sides and back?? And is that Ivory inset around/in some of the doors??? Thanks!!

There's a Tyson on the other side of Elizabeth. Perhaps this was a marriage item.

Very likely, with that date in between the names.
