I had a couple of days annual leave left to use before the end of April, so I booked today and tomorrow off. Original plan was to head for Buxton on the train then pedal to Bakewell on my bike. While in Buxton, the strong cold breeze put me off this grand idea so I decided to get back on the train at Buxton and stop off in a small town on the way. Glad I did as I fell upon these two plates/dishes: -

That’s stunning. Phillip Serrell would be drooling.

They were £10 each. I almost felt guilty as I put them in my bag and waved good bye.

Is there any chance that they are counterfeit and if so, what are the signs? Just seems too good to be true.

They are lovely 1920 and 1918 sequentially, and they look in fantastic condition. Praise be for the British weather.

It doesn't surprise me at all that you found these plates for that low price. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I've come to believe that the people selling this type of item are just missing something, sort of like being color blind. They just can't see the beauty and quality to know that these are very special.

So relish the feeling and wallow in your good luck! Meantime, I'm going to drool over the photos a little bit.

If those are fake, someone was extraordinarily talented. I think they’re dead right. Worcester fruit artists were astonishing. Those look edible.

..and hustled them out the door and to the car. And had to sit for two minutes giggling before you could start the motor. I'd have done the same, and I can see Philip Serell putting down a stone lump to wander off with them too. (I've seen enough Antiques Alley programming to know who he is.)

Serrell would be drooling. He and Henry Sandor are the Worcester fanatics.
