I am thinking of purchasing a block print with a 1960s NYC subject. I have not been able to decipher the signature. There is also a gallery label from NJ on the back. I do not want to post the whole thing since I do not want to reveal the source. I have tried an image search to no avail. Any ideas?

Here is another example of the signature off a second print from the same source.

    ...and from a third.

IF it is "W. Jerrymore" .

I changed my mind, it's not the one I found...

    I started at a similar place with "W. Derryman." A more-eyes-the-better puzzle.

I thought the first name was Davey but maybe my eyes are fooling me.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

This could be way off target, but I found this information about a George C. Dangman (1909-1989) who was born in Brooklyn and lived in NYC for a long time. He was an artist and the Denver Public Library has some papers of his, including articles about his art and also some woodblock prints he printed onto Christmas cards. https://archives.denverlibrary.org/repositories/3/resources/6761

It doesn't appear that they have any documents or artwork of his online. I will investigate a bit more.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

After about 15 minutes of searching, I found a brief death notice for George C. Dangman in the New York Times from August 1989. It doesn't say anything about his artwork. I also found in some upstate New York newspapers a couple of articles from 1950 that described a March 1950 car crash in which George was driving, and hit a pedestrian who was killed. The pedestrian's widow sued, and the lawsuit was settled out of court a couple of months later.

So, not much help! And as mentioned, it may be totally off target.

Looks like Waugman, but not finding anything.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I was leaning towards the first letter being a "W" as well, with my guess being close to @Roaring20s, but has anyone thought to tag @anundverkaufen??? He's often very good at deciphering siggys!!!!

I, now, think it is W. Something... man. Have not had a chance yet to explore possibilities along this line. Thanks for the help so far.

I see it could be a W, but also my first impression was a D. So looked for both.

Brad I have been over that bridge many times in my life. Sorry you couldn't get an id on the artist.

I like this one best too. With other prints by same artist, I find it odd that seller doesn't state or know the name.

Interesting choice of subjects. Verrazano Bridge, Vatican Pavillon at World's Fair and Church of St. Martin, Cologne.
