Nice early 20th Century Art Nouveau clock. This type movement is called "open escapement" where the escapement wheel and verge are in front of the dial. They were higher-end clocks when manufactured. Too bad the dial has cracks, but that is pretty common. Gilbert (as someone else said, of Winstead, CT) was a major manufacturer. Even so, definitely worth several times more than you paid for it. Be careful though: the metal tends to be brittle, and quite a few were made of "spelter," which we used to call "pot metal" implying that it was made of whatever metal they threw into the "pot" to melt. If it that rather than bronze, brass, or iron, it has a low melting temperature and if ever broken, it takes a real expert to repair it.
